Beverley Drake

Intro

Beverley Drake’s professional career in aviation spans almost 4 decades. This distinguished career began in her native country Guyana after she left Guyana in 1976 and successfully completed her commercial pilot’s license and instrument rating at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU); she returned to join the Guyana Defense Force and then Guyana Airways Corporation.

During her tenure, she skillfully flew a Britten Norman Islander in the dense jungles of Guyana and was the first woman to fly the Twin Otter and Hawker Siddley 748 at Guyana Airways on both local and international routes to Trinidad, Barbados and Dominica. By the way, check out my awesome stamp.

Honors

Ms. Drake was honored by the Government of Guyana on World Post Day, Oct. 9, 2013, with the unveiling of a local $20 and $80 international stamp bearing her photo. She also received the "2013 Alumni Achievement Award ," from ERAU November 8, and the honor to be "Grand Marshal" at the Homecoming Parade, November 9, 2013.
